| Name: | Harmony Berkeley |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 12-28 |
| Location: | United States |
Name: Harmony Berkeley
Codename: Celosia ( Greek for burning )
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Age: 17 ( December 28th, Capricorn )
Sex: Female
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 130 lbs
Eyes: Her eyes are a soft cerulean tint.
Hair: Her hair is a golden blonde and wavy, going down to her mid-back. When her mutation occurred, the locks framing her face become a bright, blood red color.
Family: Her mother, Agatha Harmony, age 38, stays at home and does housework. Her father, Damian Berkeley, age 40, works at a Greek restaurant his father owns. Susan and John Berkeley ( Susan is 68, John is 67 ) are her grandparents, both work at the Greek restaurant. She has several cousins, but doesn’t know who on the Berkeley side of the family they come from. She still has relatives in Greece from her mother’s side of the family.
Power:
I – Fire) Her power is control of fire, if you can call it control. Assuming she can concentrate enough, she appears to form fire from thin air and make it vanish just as easily. Although she’s mastered some of her power she is far from in complete control. She has so far only mastered the ability to form orbs of fire of a small to medium size. She has some control over larger sizes and creating walls of fire, but the bigger or more complicated the spell the harder it is for her to work with. If she works too long with a spell she’s not familiar with, she grows considerably weaker and the fire can either rage out of control or simmer to nothing.
II – “Holy Fire”) Harmony discovered shortly after the incident with her cousin she could use her fire to heal. Walking through the woods to clear her mind one afternoon, she tripped over a tree limb and received a long scratch from the bark of a tree. When she held her hand over it, a sort of bluish flame covered her hand and immediately she felt a warmth around the cut. When the fire faded, all that remained of the wound was a tiny scar. When she later looked into this, she discovered something about the fire triggered a quicker reaction in her body’s healing process. Though she can use this skill pretty freely, attempting to heal major wounds draws too much of her energy so she’s pretty much stuck with healing smaller scrapes and scratches.
Weaknesses:
I – Water) Harmony has one major weakness: water. Much like a real fire, when water contacts her bare skin she weakens. Small amounts of water don’t do any prolonged damage; washing her hands or being sprayed with a little water isn’t dangerous to her health; depending on the amount of water, she normally only becomes slightly dizzy and has to sit down for a moment to clear her head. However, if she’s submerged or her entire body is covered ( rain ) for too long it can weaken or knock her unconscious for days. Her showers are usually no longer than they need to be, rarely lasting over three minutes and she always, *always* carries a poncho and small umbrella when she goes out.
II – Emotions) She has to be careful about her emotions; passionate hate and anger usually lead to a loss of control of her powers. One particularly nasty experience with anger almost killed her cousin and left her paranoid about another incident similar to it. ( See History for more information on this. )
Appearance: Despite her Greek heritage her skin has a fairly light skin tone. The red streaks in her blonde hair help her blue eyes accent a fair, gentle face. She’s about the average height and weight of most girls her age. When she isn’t a human inferno, there is no outward evidence of the fact she is a mutant. She usually wears white tops and black bottoms, usually a nice white shirt and jeans.
Personality: She’s normally cheerful, or tries to be. People she grew up with felt a magnetic attraction to her due to this perkiness; she is rarely openly angry or upset. Although she’s normally cheerful, she doesn’t often bubble over with giggles and “LIKE, OH MY G-D ^_^!!!’’’s, instead having a sort of trademark smile her friends have warmed up to. She’s fiercely loyal to her truest friends, willing to go as far as to die for them if the need arises. However, she’s become a bit over-sensitive since the mutation. She takes things way too seriously and is often quick to anger, which sways to another feeling quite quickly; for example when one of her ( ex ) friends in middle school spread a rumor about her, she went quickly from anger to betrayal.
History: Unfounded fears of a growing revolution in Greece caused Agatha and Damian to leave their home and seek shelter in America. Relatives of Damian’s had room to spare and accepted the family under their roof. Only a few weeks after their arrival, Agatha gave birth. She gave the child her last name, Harmony, as a first name and Damian’s last name, Berkeley, liking how they sounded together.
From a young age, Harmony found choral music very soothing. Her parents signed her up for a youth choir as soon as she was old enough to join one. She began her life singing with a voice described by the choir director as an “angelic Soprano 1.” However, as Harmony entered middle school her range dropped like a rock, leaving her as the only female tenor in the school. The music teacher in high school took an interest in her wide voice range and auditioned her for the most advanced group in the school, simply called the Madrigals. She passed with flying colors.
However, at the end of her sophomore year, she got into an explosive fight with one of her cousins about something so stupid she forgot about the topic but still feels bad for it. During the climax of the fight she suddenly erupted into flames that quickly spread to the small shack they had been talking in. When fire trucks and ambulances arrived they found her cousin unconscious on the ground and a very terrified, bewildered Harmony staring at her hands through misty eyes even while the flames raged on her body. When the firemen threw buckets of water on her, she experienced a pain unlike any other and sank into unconsciousness as well. Her cousin ended up surviving, though with 3rd and 2nd degree burns covering much of his body.
Agatha and Damian began to debate Xavier’s Institute, Damian having overheard a friend at his office discussing it with someone else. They decided to let Harmony decide. She didn’t want to be torn from the Madrigals and begged them to let her stay in her school for the two years she had left. They reluctantly agreed on a solemn promise from Harmony that, if anything like this happened again, she would go to Xavier’s.
Even though nothing did happen, Harmony eventually decided to go to Xavier’s school. The memories of her incident haunted her so badly, and she was nervous that stress with school would leave her with a short fuse, figuratively and literally. Shortly before her 16th birthday she officially enrolled. The progress made over the past year has been very slow and tedious, but is nonetheless encouraging to her family.
Despite the change in environment Harmony has remained as friendly, cheerful and into music as she ever was. She avoids situations involving water as much as possible but is always outdoors during her free time. On some nights she’ll stretch out on the lawn somewhere and stare at the sky, on others she’ll retire early and sit in her room alone. Most of the time she’s humming or singing softly to herself, and on some nights she dedicates the evening to learning new pieces. She also has a rather massive stuffed animal collection, and though most are at home with her family she has quite a few in her room.
